History:
Alumni and others who shared the ICS's interest in exploring Christian
worldview at the highest academic levels looked for ways to support the
ICS's work in the United States. They organized conferences in various
locations. They also provided a means to donate to ICS through the AACS
Foundation in Grand Rapids, MI, which could issue US receipts for tax
purposes. Eventually that Foundation was renamed Friends of ICS. Its current
board of directors is listed on the contact page.
Projects:
- Fund raising: Friends of ICS has continued to raise funds to support students and research at ICS.
- The Greystone Study: In 2003 this research group conducted a "Study of the Perceptions and Opportunities of ICS in the United States." It made a number of recommendations that ICS faculty and staff are implementing.
- The Advocates project started in 2004, as one response to the Greystone Study, to increase the visibility of ICS in the United States. A network of local supporters who pass on information about ICS was developed and is open for expansion..
- Conferences: A Worldview Conference for the Chicago area in the fall of 2007 with Dr. Richard Middleton was well-attended.
- Communication: The office mails the ICS Perspective, receipts, and other material to Friends of ICS supporters.
- Outreach: In 2008 Dr. Peter Borgdorff became Executive Director of Friends of ICS, representing it within the USA in order to assist the work of the Development staff.
